Double for Ajay Nishank in Orissa Open

Ajay Nishank lived upto his reputation with a double crown in the Orissa Open Tennis Tournament here at Bhubaneswar Club today. Nishank won the open singles title, defeating Partha Sarathi Hansda 7-5, 6-4 in the final. He completed the `double` by taking the controvertial open doubles crown with his partner Lalit Das. The open doubles final failed to take place as finalists Santosh Kumar Mallick and Partha Sarathi Hansda conceded the match. J Ganta and his daughter Nikki Gargi emerged mixed doubles champions, defeating Susita Das and her brother Shreyas 8-6 in the final. The top honour in veteran doubles event went to Bijay Ketan Mishra and S T Muralidhar, who were leading 6-4, 2-6, 4-3 in the final when their opponents Dushmant Tunga and Amit Garg conceded the match due to a heel injury suffered by Tung. Higher Education Minister Samir Dey gave away the prizes at the closing function. Orissa Tennis Association secretary Madhusudan Padhi was present on the occasion.
